Roll-off dumpster rental across Dothan and the Wiregrass

Southern Steel Dumpsters runs out of a yard at 1950 Wise Dr, Dothan, AL 36303 — inside the City of Dothan, Houston County, just off Ross Clark Circle near Headland Avenue. Dothan is not just a service area; it is home. The idea is simple: honest, straightforward dumpster rental that local property owners can count on. So we keep it plain. Clean, well-maintained roll-off containers. One flat-rate price with no hidden fees. A delivery window we tell you up front. A local person on the line — no call centers, no middlemen.

Dothan had 71,072 people at the 2020 Census and Houston County 107,202. Homeowners call about garage and estate cleanouts, remodels and storm-damaged roofs; landlords and property managers turn over rentals; contractors work from the Garden District and downtown out to Enterprise, Ozark and Headland. Knowing which of those a call is before the truck leaves the yard is most of the job — along with knowing that Dothan allows nothing to obstruct a street, sidewalk or alley without a valid permit from the City, that City pickup takes no construction or demolition debris and nothing from businesses, that Ross Clark Circle and the US highways are state routes where ALDOT has no container permit, that Hartford requires a City licence to pick up construction debris, that Ozark and Ashford keep commercial trash collection for the City, and that ADEM wants a 10-day notification before any demolition.

Whatever you are clearing — a garage or a whole house, a job site, a yard full of storm limbs or a rental you want emptied by a crew — the container exists for it. Call (334) 686-0763 and describe it in a sentence.

Why Dothan chooses us

Why people call us back

  • You reach a local team, not a call center

The phone is answered by a local team member who knows Dothan and the Wiregrass towns around it — a tight driveway near downtown, a job site off Ross Clark Circle, a bigger lot out toward Headland or Ozark.

  • Flat-rate pricing, said out loud

Delivery, pickup, disposal, the rental period and an included weight allowance explained up front. No hidden fees and no surprise charges. If your load looks like it will go over, we say so before the truck leaves the yard.

  • Same-day when availability allows

Call before noon and we will do everything possible to deliver the same day. If it has to be tomorrow, we tell you before you book.

  • Driveway-friendly placement

Careful placement on a flat, solid surface, with protective boards on request. If a tight drive, low wires or soft ground needs a different plan, the driver tells you before delivery.

  • The right box, not the biggest

Weight fills a container long before volume does. If a 10 yard is the honest answer for your broken-up concrete, that is what we will quote you.

  • Ready for storm cleanup

Severe storms can bring down limbs and roofing in an afternoon. We tell you honestly when the container can be there, and the 15 and 20 yard sizes take most storm piles in one go.

Simple from start to finish

Five steps, one phone call

Most bookings take a few minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the address in Dothan or the town around it, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — what is going in, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for space you will not use or run out of room, and you get a flat-rate quote that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protective boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked and clear.

  4. Step 4: Load it at your pace

Keep it level with or below the top edge and keep the problem items out — paint and solvents, oil and fuel, hazardous chemicals, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, flammable materials, medical waste, asbestos, and appliances still holding refrigerant. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal

Call when it is full or the job is done and we schedule a prompt pickup. The load is covered or tarped for the road and goes to an approved disposal or recycling facility, with metal, concrete, cardboard and yard debris recycled whenever possible.

Local knowledge

Seventeen towns, five counties, and we know the driveways

There is a difference between covering an area and knowing it. We know which drives the truck fits down, that Dothan's code allows nothing to obstruct a street, sidewalk or alley unless it is under a valid permit from the City (City Code § 86-1) and wants a written permit from the City Engineer or the Public Works Director before debris goes on a street (§ 86-8), that the roll-off truck may not park on a residential street except while loading or unloading (§ 98-91), that Ross Clark Circle, US-231, US-84, US-431, AL-52 and AL-53 are state routes where ALDOT has no container permit, that Hartford requires a City licence to pick up construction and demolition materials (Ord. 06-01-2026-1), that Ozark and Abbeville bar street obstructions outright, and that Ozark, Enterprise, Ashford and Hartford each have their own hauling rules — so we check the City's rules before booking there.

Our service area page lists every town we cover, grouped by area, and each has its own page covering access, local character and what that town's own rules say about containers in the street and who may haul.

Credentials

What you are actually hiring

Plain, checkable facts about who you would be working with — no invented star ratings or reviews.

  • Licensed & insured, with professional drivers

Professional drivers who respect your property and place each container with care. Ask when you book if your property manager, general contractor or HOA needs proof of insurance.

  • Based in Dothan, just off Ross Clark Circle

The yard is at 1950 Wise Dr, Dothan, AL 36303 — inside the City of Dothan, Houston County. The number on this page reaches a local team, not an answering service in another state.

  • Seventeen towns, five counties

Dothan and the towns next door — Kinsey, Webb, Cowarts, Headland, Midland City and Rehobeth; Ashford, Columbia, Gordon and Cottonwood around Houston County; and Ozark, Newton, Enterprise, Abbeville, Slocomb and Hartford around the Wiregrass. We tell you honestly about timing and any local rule before you book.

  • Sorted the way Alabama requires

Alabama keeps regulated hazardous waste out of ordinary landfills, screens every landfill load for free liquids, hazardous and medical waste and PCBs, and wants a 10-day notification before any demolition. We keep our own not-accepted list on top of that, recycle what facilities take, and say so.

Answers

Dumpster rental in Dothan — your questions

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster in Dothan, AL?

It depends on the dumpster size, the type of debris, the rental duration, the disposal weight and the delivery location, so we quote each job rather than publish a price list. Our flat-rate pricing typically includes delivery, pickup, disposal fees and the standard rental period, with no hidden charges. The quote includes a weight allowance — about 1 to 2 tons on a 10 yard, up to 5 to 6 on a 40 — and going over it, or keeping the container longer, can add a fee. Call (334) 686-0763 for a quote for your address.

How quickly can you deliver a dumpster in Dothan?

Same-day or next-day across Dothan and the nearby towns, depending on availability. For the best chance of same-day, call before noon. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but we do not promise night or Sunday drop-offs.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Dothan?

On your own driveway or lot, we found no City rule for a temporary roll-off — keep it off the sidewalk and the street. In a street, sidewalk or alley, yes: Dothan's code makes it unlawful to place boxes, rubbish or any other article where it may obstruct a sidewalk, street, alley or public way unless it is there under a valid permit from the City (City Code § 86-1), and putting trash or debris of any kind on a street needs a written permit from the City Engineer or the Public Works Director (§ 86-8). We found no City permit written for dumpsters as such, and no fee or time limit, so call Public Works at (334) 615-4420, or ask us, to confirm what applies. On Ross Clark Circle and the other state routes, ALDOT prohibits any use of the right-of-way other than normal traffic without its written permission. Check your HOA too.

What can't go in a dumpster in Alabama?

Under our rules: paints and solvents, oils and fuels, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, gas cylinders, propane tanks, flammable materials, asbestos, and refrigerators or other appliances still holding refrigerant unless they have been properly prepared. That is company policy. Alabama's own rules bar regulated hazardous waste from ordinary landfills (ADEM 335-13-4-.21(1)(h)), have every landfill screen loads for free liquids, regulated hazardous and medical waste and PCB waste, keep free liquids out of construction and demolition landfills, and send friable asbestos out as special waste. If you are unsure about an item, call before loading it.

Will a dumpster damage my driveway?

We take precautions to minimize the risk of damage during delivery and pickup, and protective boards can be used beneath the container on request. Some customers also put plywood or wooden boards under the wheels. Tell us before delivery if a surface worries you.

Which dumpster size do I need?

Volume and weight are two separate limits, and the material decides which runs out first. Small cleanouts, roofing, concrete and dirt are a 10 or 15; remodels, home cleanouts and landscaping a 20; demolition, commercial jobs and large construction debris a 30 or 40. Count the job in pickup truck loads — about 3 for a 10 yard, up to about 12 for a 40. The size guide covers it; the phone call confirms it.

Do you deliver outside Dothan?

Yes — Kinsey, Webb, Cowarts, Headland, Midland City and Rehobeth; Ashford, Columbia, Gordon and Cottonwood; and Ozark, Newton, Enterprise, Abbeville, Slocomb and Hartford. Each town has its own page with its own street and hauling rules.

When is the best time to book?

Early. Same-day depends on availability, and a call before noon gives you the best chance. For a planned remodel or cleanout, a few days' notice gets you the size you want on the day you want it. If the container has to go in a Dothan street, the City's permit comes first; if a demolition is involved, ADEM wants a 10-day notification before the work starts.
