Roll-off dumpster rental in Newton

Approx. 14 road miles from the yard, around 23 minutes.

Newton is approx. 14 road miles west-northwest of the yard, around 23 minutes — same-day or next-day delivery depending on availability; call earlier in the day for the best chance of same-day. It is a town of 1,607 at the 2020 Census, in Dale County, set along the Choctawhatchee River.

Garbage collection is mandatory in Newton for homes, mobile homes, apartments, businesses, offices and schools (Ord. 2008-09-002, quoting Ord. 8-16-93 § 12), run through an outside service. The town's Care of Premises ordinance makes it unlawful to use a home's premises for open storage of building material or building rubbish (§ 1(a)) — so a remodel, a roof or a clean-out needs a container.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Newton

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Mandatory garbage — for homes, mobile homes, trailers, apartments, businesses, offices and schools in town limits (Ord. 2008-09-002).
  • No open storage — building material, building rubbish, appliances, televisions, glass and inoperable vehicles can't be openly stored at homes (Care of Premises Ord. § 1(a)).
  • Keep it off the streets — no one, including owners, contractors or laborers, may push debris onto town streets, alleys, storm-water structures, ditches or waterways (§ 1(e)).
  • The river — John Hutto Park and Boat Ramp gives river access on AL-123.
  • Town Hall — 9 N. College St, (334) 299-3361.

What comes out of Newton properties

Garage clean-outs in 10s, yard work and flooring in 15s, roofing and remodels in 20s, estate clean-outs in 30s and demolition in 40s. Newton's ordinance bars open storage of building rubbish at homes and pushing debris into ditches or waterways, so the tear-out goes straight into the container.

What goes in: wood, drywall, flooring, furniture, household junk, yard waste, roofing shingles, branches and brush, construction debris and small non-hazardous appliances. What doesn't: paints and solvents, oils and fuels, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, gas cylinders, propane tanks, flammable materials and refrigerators that still hold refrigerant — that's our own list, not a state ban. Alabama's rules: regulated hazardous waste can't go to an ordinary non-hazardous landfill (ADEM 335-13-4-.21(1)(h)), every permitted landfill screens loads for free liquids, regulated hazardous, medical and PCB wastes (335-13-4-.21(1)(b)), free liquids are barred at construction and demolition landfills (335-13-4-.23(1)), and carrying more than eight scrap tires at once needs an ADEM transporter permit (Code of Ala. § 22-40A-7). Our what can and can't go in a dumpster in Alabama guide covers the rest. We found no public household hazardous waste collection in Dale County, and Dale County's garbage contractor won't take wood, brick, concrete or construction debris.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Newton

Who may haul: we found no Newton rule on construction debris, roll-offs, hauler licences or franchises; the town's mandatory garbage ordinance covers household and business garbage, run through an outside service. Dale County's enrollment form ties county participation to Code of Ala. § 22-27-2. We're licensed and insured.

Placement: we found no town street or parking rule, so the container goes on private property — a driveway or a cleared spot on the lot. Ask Town Hall before anything goes in a street. You don't need to be home as long as we have clear instructions on where it goes and the spot is free of vehicles and obstacles. Allow approximately 60 feet of access for the truck; we use protective boards when needed to help prevent driveway damage.

Care of premises: open storage of building material and building rubbish at homes is unlawful (§ 1(a)), and debris can't be pushed onto streets, ditches, storm drains or waterways (§ 1(e)). A container on site keeps the job inside both.

State highways: the town's river access is on AL-123. ALDOT says any use of the state right-of-way other than normal vehicle traffic is prohibited without its written permission (Permit Manual 11.2), and its manual has no dumpster or container permit — so beside a state or US highway the container goes on private property, never in the right-of-way. We check the exact address.

Covered loads: Alabama bars driving a vehicle on a highway unless it's built or loaded so nothing drops, sifts, leaks or escapes (Code of Ala. § 32-5-76(b)), and trucks hauling garbage and rubbish must be covered, secured or sealed (§ 22-27-3(f)). Keep debris level with or below the top edge — an overfilled container can't legally be hauled.

Remodel or tear-down: ADEM wants a 10-day notification before any demolition, with or without asbestos, and before a renovation that removes at least 260 linear feet, 160 square feet or 35 cubic feet of regulated asbestos-containing material. Privately owned homes of four or fewer units that stay residential are exempt, unless they're part of a larger project. Friable asbestos goes out as special waste whatever the amount, and regulated asbestos is removed by an ADEM-certified abatement contractor. Asbestos never goes in our containers; tell us if you find any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Newton

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the address in Dothan or the town around it, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — what is going in, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for space you will not use or run out of room, and you get a flat-rate quote that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protective boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked and clear.

  4. Step 4: Load it at your pace

Keep it level with or below the top edge and keep the problem items out — paint and solvents, oil and fuel, hazardous chemicals, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, flammable materials, medical waste, asbestos, and appliances still holding refrigerant. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal

Call when it is full or the job is done and we schedule a prompt pickup. The load is covered or tarped for the road and goes to an approved disposal or recycling facility, with metal, concrete, cardboard and yard debris recycled whenever possible.
