Roll-off dumpster rental in Ashford

Approx. 12 road miles from the yard, around 19 minutes.

Ashford is approx. 12 road miles east-southeast of the yard, around 19 minutes — same-day or next-day delivery depending on availability, once the City's rules for the job are checked. It is a town of 2,246 at the 2020 Census, in Houston County; its government is the City of Ashford.

The City runs its own garbage collection, and its solid waste ordinance (Ord. 2026-001, adopted 2 Feb 2026) has the City or its authorized representative provide commercial collection (§ 6A), with businesses choosing from City-provided containers (§ 7A.2). Construction debris is different: lumber, plaster, roofing, concrete, brick, dirt and rocks from building work on private property won't be collected by the City, and the contractor or property owner removes it (§ 3F). That's where a construction roll-off fits — a business's regular trash service isn't ours to take on.

How we reach Ashford

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Ashford

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Construction debris — “The contractor and/or property owner is responsible for removal and proper disposal of such debris” (Ord. 2026-001 § 3F).
  • Commercial trash is City service — the City provides commercial collection (§ 6A), offers 2- to 8-yard City dumpsters, and non-City containers must be removed and replaced on notice (§ 7A.5).
  • No new commercial contracts — existing commercial hauling contracts may run out, but extensions, renewals and new contracts aren't allowed (§ 15).
  • Seven-day limit — solid waste or bulky waste can't be stored outside for more than seven days (§ 4D).
  • Covered hauling — refuse hauled on City streets must be secured and covered (§ 3N).
  • Contractor tree work — tree debris from work done for pay is removed by the owner, occupant or producer (Table 5 note).

What comes out of Ashford properties

Roof tear-offs in 10s and 20s, kitchen and bath remodels in 15s and 20s, new construction in 30s and 40s, and demolition in 40s. Ashford's ordinance names scrap lumber, plaster, roofing, concrete, brick, dirt and rocks as the contractor's or owner's to remove — dirt, concrete and brick go in a 10 or 15 to stay inside weight limits. With the seven-day limit on storing waste outside (§ 4D), book the pickup before a full box sits.

What goes in: wood, drywall, flooring, furniture, household junk, yard waste, roofing shingles, branches and brush, construction debris and small non-hazardous appliances. What doesn't: paints and solvents, oils and fuels, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, gas cylinders, propane tanks, flammable materials and refrigerators that still hold refrigerant — that's our own list, not a state ban. Alabama's rules: regulated hazardous waste can't go to an ordinary non-hazardous landfill (ADEM 335-13-4-.21(1)(h)), every permitted landfill screens loads for free liquids, regulated hazardous, medical and PCB wastes (335-13-4-.21(1)(b)), free liquids are barred at construction and demolition landfills (335-13-4-.23(1)), and carrying more than eight scrap tires at once needs an ADEM transporter permit (Code of Ala. § 22-40A-7). Our what can and can't go in a dumpster in Alabama guide covers the rest. Houston County Sanitation won't collect batteries, tires or propane tanks, the County offers no recycling (its own FAQ), and we found no public household hazardous waste drop-off on County pages.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Ashford

Who may haul — read this first: “The City, or its authorized representative, shall provide commercial solid waste collection and disposal services” (Ord. 2026-001 § 6A); commercial users choose from containers the City makes available (§ 7A.2), any non-City container must be removed on notice (§ 7A.5), and new commercial hauling contracts aren't allowed (§ 15). Construction debris from building work on private property is carved out to the contractor or owner (§ 3F). So we take construction, remodel and demolition jobs, not a business's ongoing trash, and we check the City's rules before booking a container in Ashford. We're licensed and insured.

Business licence: Ashford's business licence ordinance (Ord. 2024-003) lists a waste management class (562998) and a delivery licence for businesses whose only presence in town is deliveries (§ 21).

In the street: no refuse on any public street, alley or sidewalk (§ 3H), and no trash, refuse or bulk items in streets, gutters or over storm drains (Table 5 note). We found no dumpster placement rule, and Ashford's parking ordinance (Ord. 2021-005) fines vehicles blocking traffic, a sidewalk or a driveway. The container goes on the job site or driveway. You don't need to be home as long as we have clear instructions on where it goes and the spot is free of vehicles and obstacles. Allow approximately 60 feet of access for the truck; we use protective boards when needed to help prevent driveway damage.

State highways: ALDOT says any use of the state right-of-way other than normal vehicle traffic is prohibited without its written permission (Permit Manual 11.2), and its manual has no dumpster or container permit — so beside a state or US highway the container goes on private property, never in the right-of-way. We check the exact address.

Covered loads: Alabama bars driving a vehicle on a highway unless it's built or loaded so nothing drops, sifts, leaks or escapes (Code of Ala. § 32-5-76(b)), and trucks hauling garbage and rubbish must be covered, secured or sealed (§ 22-27-3(f)). Keep debris level with or below the top edge — an overfilled container can't legally be hauled.

Remodel or tear-down: ADEM wants a 10-day notification before any demolition, with or without asbestos, and before a renovation that removes at least 260 linear feet, 160 square feet or 35 cubic feet of regulated asbestos-containing material. Privately owned homes of four or fewer units that stay residential are exempt, unless they're part of a larger project. Friable asbestos goes out as special waste whatever the amount, and regulated asbestos is removed by an ADEM-certified abatement contractor. Asbestos never goes in our containers; tell us if you find any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Ashford

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the address in Dothan or the town around it, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — what is going in, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for space you will not use or run out of room, and you get a flat-rate quote that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protective boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked and clear.

  4. Step 4: Load it at your pace

Keep it level with or below the top edge and keep the problem items out — paint and solvents, oil and fuel, hazardous chemicals, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, flammable materials, medical waste, asbestos, and appliances still holding refrigerant. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal

Call when it is full or the job is done and we schedule a prompt pickup. The load is covered or tarped for the road and goes to an approved disposal or recycling facility, with metal, concrete, cardboard and yard debris recycled whenever possible.
