Dumpster Rental Cost in Dothan, AL: What Drives It

How we price a dumpster

Dumpster rental prices vary with the dumpster size, the type of debris, the rental duration, the disposal weight and the delivery location, plus any extra swap-outs or extended rentals. We offer straightforward flat-rate pricing that typically includes delivery, pickup, disposal fees and the standard rental period, with no hidden charges.

For our 10 yard dumpster, average pricing typically ranges from $350–$550 depending on debris type, delivery location and disposal weight. The bigger sizes are quoted by phone, because the things that decide the number, what is going in, how heavy it is and how far the truck runs, change from job to job. Call (334) 686-0763 with the address and the material for a flat quote. We accept major credit and debit cards, and payment is generally collected when the rental is scheduled, to reserve your delivery date.

What a flat rate covers

A flat-rate quote typically includes delivery and pickup, disposal fees, the included weight allowance and the standard rental period. That is the whole job for most customers. The rest of this guide is about the few things that can change it, and how to keep them from changing it.

The biggest cost inside any flat rate is disposal, and Alabama sorts debris by type. ADEM defines construction and demolition waste as building materials, packaging and rubble from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition, such as masonry, sheet rock, roofing waste, insulation other than asbestos, scrap metal and wood products, while uncontaminated concrete, soil, brick, waste asphalt paving and rock are excluded from that definition (ADEM 335-13-1-.03(30)). Every permitted landfill screens incoming loads for free liquids, regulated hazardous waste, regulated medical waste and PCB waste (335-13-4-.21(1)(b)). Different facilities take different materials, so the material decides the disposal cost. We work with local disposal and recycling facilities whenever possible, and metal, concrete, yard debris, cardboard and certain construction materials may be separated and recycled when appropriate.

The things that move it

Size and weight. Each dumpster includes a weight allowance based on its size and the debris type, usually 1–2 tons on a 10 yard, 2–3 on a 15, 3–4 on a 20, 4–5 on a 30 and 5–6 on a 40. If your debris goes over, additional overage fees may apply based on disposal weight. Concrete, dirt, brick, tile and shingles use it up fast, so for heavy loads we may recommend a smaller box or a split load.

Days. Standard rentals generally run 3 to 7 days, and your quote confirms the days. Need longer? We can often extend the rental for an additional daily or weekly fee, depending on availability. Finished early? Call us and we can arrange pickup sooner.

Distance. Delivery location is part of every quote. Our yard is on Wise Dr inside the City of Dothan, just off Ross Clark Circle, and approx. road miles from it are: Dothan city centre 2, Kinsey 5, Webb 7, Cowarts and Midland City 9, Headland 10, Ashford 12, Rehobeth 13, Newton 14, Cottonwood 17, Slocomb 18, Columbia 20, Gordon and Ozark 22, Hartford 24, Abbeville 25 and Enterprise 31. Approximate figures, but they explain why the longer runs can cost a little more.

Extra service. Swap-outs of a full box for an empty one, additional containers and scheduled swap-outs on an ongoing project are all priced as part of the quote.

Problem items cost money

Alabama's landfill rules screen out a short list, and the local landfills add their own. Regulated hazardous waste is prohibited from ordinary landfill units (ADEM 335-13-4-.21(1)(h)). Construction and demolition landfills may not accept bulk liquids or containers that can hold liquids except under narrow exceptions, empty containers larger than 10 gallons must be made unable to hold liquids first, and free liquids are prohibited (335-13-4-.23(1)(j)-(l)). Friable asbestos must go out as special waste, whatever the amount. After December 31, 2027, landfills may not dispose of whole tires unless they are shredded or cut. The Henry County Landfill lists treated lumber, electronics, tires, asbestos, oil and paint among what it cannot receive, and the Coffee County Landfill does not take tires, used oil, or lithium and wet-cell batteries. A facility can refuse a load like that, so a tire, a can of oil or a battery tossed in at the end can cost more than it is worth.

Keep these out, along with our own no list: paints and solvents, oils and fuels, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, gas cylinders, propane tanks, flammable materials, asbestos, and appliances with refrigerant unless properly prepared. The what-goes-in guide says where each one goes instead.

What the do-it-yourself options cost

For a small job, the curb or a public site may do. For anything bigger, the limits add up:

OptionPublished charge or limitNotes
City of Dothan curbside pickupYard waste and bulk items such as furniture and appliances; one pile per residence; limbs up to 5 feet long and 8 inches acrossNot accepted: construction or demolition debris, tires, commercial waste; items over 50 pounds or 35 gallons are the producer's job (§ 82-20(h))
Houston County Sanitation bulk trash (policy effective October 1, 2026)Over a 10 by 10 foot area: minimum load $75, half truck $150, full truck $225Contractor debris, or debris placed on the right-of-way with heavy equipment: minimum $400; no stumps, land-clearing debris, batteries, tires or propane tanks
City of Ozark Public WorksOver 10 cubic yards of residential trash: $65.00 per half loadNo construction debris; whole-house cleanouts call Public Works first
City of Enterprise grinding site, East Drive off Coppinville RoadCity residents only, with a permit from Public WorksYard debris
Henry County Landfill, 1023 County Road 53, AbbevilleCharged by the load or by the ton; check current ratesTakes construction materials, yard debris, asphalt shingles, sheetrock and untreated lumber; mixed loads only if separated
Coffee County Landfill, 7733 Highway 125, ElbaCharged by the ton; check current ratesHas a construction and demolition area; takes stumps and trees; all loads tarped or secured
City of Hartford construction debris landfillHartford residents only, with a ticket from City HallNo contractor job-site debris (Ord. 06-01-2026-1 § 11)

Every do-it-yourself trip is a covered load too. Alabama law bars driving any vehicle on a highway unless its load cannot drop, sift, leak or otherwise escape (Code of Ala. § 32-5-76(b)), and willfully letting litter fall from a vehicle onto a road is a Class B misdemeanor (§ 32-5-76(c)(1)). In Dothan, solid waste must be covered or tarped in transit (§ 82-112), with a fine of $20 to $500 and each day a separate offense (§ 82-116(b)). Add the drive, the gate days and the per-load charges, and past a handful of trips one roll-off usually wins on money and on weekends.

Permits and notices worth knowing

None of these change our flat rate, but they can add time or cost to a job. On a private driveway in Dothan we found no permit at all. In the street, § 86-1 allows use under a valid permit from the city and § 86-8 needs a written permit from the city engineer or public works director for debris on a street, and we found no fee, form or time limit for either, so ask Public Works before you count on one. Enterprise's street permit under § 18-30 comes from the mayor, with red lights at night, and we found no form or fee online. On a state highway there is no permit path at all.

Bigger jobs can carry a state notice. ADEM requires a 10-day notification before any demolition project, with or without asbestos, and before a renovation that removes at least 260 linear feet, 160 square feet or 35 cubic feet of regulated asbestos-containing material, which must be removed by an ADEM certified asbestos abatement contractor. Privately owned residential buildings of four or fewer units that remain residential are exempt, unless the work is part of a larger project. Asbestos never goes in our roll-offs.

Dumpster or junk removal, and getting a quote

For anything beyond a couple of pickup loads, a container you load yourself is usually the better value, because you are paying for the box and the disposal rather than the labor. For a single couch or appliance, or a cleanout with nobody to lift, our junk removal service may suit you better: our crew handles the loading, hauling and disposal, priced on the volume of debris, the labor, the type of materials and how accessible the items are, with an upfront quote before the work starts. The home cleanout guide covers the in-between jobs.

Call (334) 686-0763 — the phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer same-day and next-day delivery in many parts of Dothan and nearby areas, depending on availability, and calling earlier in the day gives you the best chance of same-day service.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster in Dothan?

It depends on the dumpster size, the type of debris, the rental duration, the disposal weight and the delivery location. Average pricing for our 10 yard typically ranges from $350 to $550 depending on debris type, delivery location and disposal weight; larger sizes are quoted by phone.

What is included in a flat rate?

Delivery and pickup, disposal fees, the included weight allowance and the standard rental period. Going over the weight allowance, keeping the box longer, or extra swap-outs and additional containers are what can add to it.

Does a Dothan street permit cost extra?

We found no fee for one. Dothan has no dumpster permit; a box in the street needs a valid permit from the city under section 86-1, and the code sets no fee or time limit for it, so ask Public Works first. A driveway needs no permit that we found.

Does it cost more outside Dothan?

Delivery location is part of the quote, so the longer runs can cost a little more: Abbeville is approx. 25 road miles from our yard and Enterprise approx. 31. Local rules also change from town to town.
