If you have never rented a dumpster, this is the page to read first. It covers the whole process from the phone call to the pickup, with the Dothan, Houston County and Alabama specifics that national guides leave out.

Whether you are remodeling a kitchen, replacing a roof, clearing out an estate or running a construction job, a roll-off puts all the debris in one place instead of trip after trip to a disposal site. It keeps the property clean and organized, cuts the labor spent hauling debris, and makes the work area safer. In Dothan it matters more than you might think: City pickup does not accept construction or demolition debris, tires or commercial waste; building material from anything beyond minor owner repairs, contractor debris and any item over 50 pounds or 35 gallons are the owner's job (City Code § 82-20(h)); and in the county, contractor debris carries a minimum charge of $400 under Houston County's policy.
The usual jobs: garage, estate, moving and storage cleanouts and whole-home cleanouts; kitchen and bathroom remodels, flooring replacement, roofing tear-offs and whole-home renovations; landscaping, tree trimming and storm cleanup; and new construction, demolition, commercial remodeling and contractor job sites.
You call (334) 686-0763, tell us about the project, and choose the right size with our help. We give you a flat-rate quote that typically includes delivery, pickup, disposal fees and the standard rental period, which generally runs 3 to 7 days. We deliver quickly, often the same day or the next day, depending on availability. You fill the box with approved debris, keeping it level with or below the top edge. When you are finished, call us and we schedule pickup; finish early and we can arrange pickup sooner. You do not need to be home for delivery or pickup, as long as we have clear instructions on where the dumpster goes and the area is free of vehicles and obstacles. On a big job we can schedule swap-outs.
Our yard is at 1950 Wise Dr, inside the City of Dothan and Houston County according to the US Census geocoder, just off Ross Clark Circle. Dothan had 71,072 people at the 2020 Census and Houston County 107,202.
Start with the job, then check the weight. A 10 yard, about 14 feet long, suits small remodels, roofing debris and heavy material such as concrete and dirt. A 15, about 16 feet, suits garage cleanouts, flooring and yard debris. The 20, 30 and 40 are about 22 feet long and get taller: the 20, one of our most popular sizes, for renovations, roofing and landscaping; the 30 for whole-home cleanouts and major remodels; the 40 for commercial construction and demolition. All are about 7.5 feet wide. Weight allowances usually run from 1–2 tons on a 10 up to 5–6 tons on a 40, depending on the debris type. The sizing guide has the full table.
Dothan collects household trash, yard waste and bulk items from homes, one pile per residence at the curb, not in the street. It does not collect refuse from businesses, which must be removed by the owner or producer (§ 82-36(a)), and it does not take construction or demolition debris, tires or commercial waste. No hazardous refuse may go in any City collection receptacle (§ 82-37), and we found no City household hazardous waste program. Houston County runs mandatory household garbage collection, and its policy effective October 1, 2026 counts household garbage only: furnishings, carpet, construction and remodeling debris, appliances, batteries, tires and propane tanks are not garbage, and the County will not collect stumps or land-clearing debris. Kinsey and Cowarts say Houston County picks up household garbage in town; Ashford runs its own collection.
Next door, Geneva County collects household garbage only, with no wood, brick or concrete, and its bulk waste policy leaves contractor debris to the contractor. Dale County contracts its household pickup, and its contractor will not take wood, brick, concrete or construction debris. Coffee County ended its roll-off service for residents and businesses on July 1, 2023, and says commercial customers contract with a private waste handler of their choice. In Enterprise, Ozark and Abbeville, the City leaves building debris to the owner (§§ 13-80, 10-26, 28-13). That is why a roll-off is the usual answer for a remodel, a roof, a move-out or a construction site anywhere around Dothan.
Driveway first. We found no City of Dothan permit or rule for a temporary roll-off on private property, and no dumpster permit at all. In the street, City Code § 86-1 bans boxes, rubbish and other articles unless under a valid permit from the city, § 86-8 needs a written permit from the city engineer or public works director for debris on a street, and trucks heavier than a one-ton pickup may not park on residential streets except while loading or unloading (§ 98-91). We found no fee, time limit or lighting rule, so Public Works confirms what applies. On state highways such as Ross Clark Circle, US-231, US-84, US-431, AL-52 and AL-53, ALDOT prohibits any use of the right-of-way other than normal traffic without its written permission and has no container permit, so we never place there. Enterprise needs the mayor's written permit for a street spot, with red lights at night (§ 18-30); Ozark (§ 16-1) and Abbeville (§ 46-2) ban street obstructions; and Headland's building permits want the dumpster on the job site. The permit guide covers every town.
Alabama lets a county commission or city council make its collection system mandatory (Code of Ala. § 22-27-3(a)(2)), assign territories and set annual licence fees for collection firms (§ 22-27-5(b)), and no such licence may be granted without a permit from the state or county health department (§ 22-27-5(c)). In Houston County, the county health department's Solid Waste Officer issues permits and inspects vehicles for garbage collectors and haulers. Dothan requires a City business licence for anyone doing business in the city, and its licence schedule includes a Waste Management Services class with a surety bond (§ 18-22); we found no City franchise for roll-offs.
Ozark (§§ 10-27, 10-33) reserves commercial garbage and trash to the City or a City-licensed and permitted contractor paying three percent of gross receipts, Enterprise charges franchise fees to commercial waste collection companies under Resolution 12-2-97, Ashford provides commercial service itself while leaving construction debris to the contractor or owner (Ord. 2026-001), and Hartford requires a City licence to pick up refuse, trash or construction and demolition materials (Ord. 06-01-2026-1 § 22). In those four we check the City's rules before booking. The permit guide has the detail. We're licensed & insured.
Alabama's rules work by facility and material rather than by a long ban list. Regulated hazardous waste is prohibited from ordinary landfill units (ADEM 335-13-4-.21(1)(h)); every permitted landfill screens loads for free liquids, regulated hazardous waste, regulated medical waste and PCB waste (335-13-4-.21(1)(b)); construction and demolition landfills refuse bulk liquids and free liquids and want larger empty containers made unable to hold liquids (335-13-4-.23(1)); and after December 31, 2027, landfills may not dispose of whole tires unless they are shredded or cut. Carrying more than eight scrap tires at one time needs an ADEM transporter permit (Code of Ala. § 22-40A-7). On the rules we read, Alabama has no statewide landfill ban on mattresses, furniture, shingles, drywall or wood, and we found no state landfill ban on car batteries, appliances or used oil either.
For a roll-off that means liquids, hazardous chemicals, tires and batteries stay out of the box, under our own no list as much as the state rules, and yard waste goes as its own load. A clean load of concrete, brick, soil or rock is not construction and demolition waste under ADEM's definition, so keeping it separate helps. Fridges, freezers and AC units go in only if the refrigerant has been properly removed, so ask first, and ask about TVs and computers, because some area landfills refuse electronics. The what-goes-in guide has the detail.
ADEM requires a responsible party, whether a contractor, a property owner or a consultant, to submit a 10-day notification to the appropriate agency before disturbing regulated asbestos-containing material or beginning demolition, for any demolition project with or without asbestos, and for any renovation removing at least 260 linear feet, 160 square feet or 35 cubic feet of regulated material. That material must be removed by an ADEM certified asbestos abatement contractor. Privately owned residential buildings of four or fewer units that remain residential are exempt, but the exemption does not apply to a residential property that is part of a larger project.
Disposal is the hard line: ADEM says friable asbestos-containing material must be disposed of as special waste, regardless of amount, and its definition of construction and demolition waste covers only insulation that is not asbestos. Asbestos never goes in our roll-offs. In Headland, the demolition permit adds that all trash and debris must be completely removed from the site, so book the roll-offs before demo day.
Alabama requires trucks hauling garbage and rubbish to be covered, secured or sealed so nothing is lost on the way (Code of Ala. § 22-27-3(f)), and no vehicle may be driven on a highway unless it is built or loaded so none of its load can drop, sift, leak or escape (§ 32-5-76(b)). Dothan requires solid waste loads to be covered or tarped and secured in public places (§ 82-112), and Enterprise (§ 13-84), Ashford (§ 3N), Abbeville (§ 28-9) and Hartford (§ 21) want loads secured and covered on their streets. That is why debris stays level with or below the top edge.
We work with local disposal and recycling facilities whenever possible to support responsible waste handling. Metal, concrete, yard debris, cardboard and certain construction materials may be separated and recycled when appropriate, so keeping clean loads clean helps.
The rules change once you leave Dothan. Next door are Kinsey (pop. 2,203; approx. 5 road miles), Webb (1,270; 7), Cowarts (1,930; 9), Headland (4,973, Henry County; 10), Midland City (2,239, Dale County; 9) and Rehobeth (1,791; 13). Around Houston County are Ashford (2,246; 12), Columbia (690; 20), Gordon (294; 22) and Cottonwood (1,048; 17). Around the Wiregrass are Ozark (14,368, Dale County; 22), Newton (1,607, Dale County; 14), Enterprise (28,711, Coffee County; 31), Abbeville (2,358, Henry County; 25), Slocomb (2,082, Geneva County; 18) and Hartford (2,651, Geneva County; 24). Populations are 2020 Census counts and miles are approx. road miles from our yard. See the service area, or the Dothan page for home.
In: wood, drywall, flooring and tile, cabinets and countertops, furniture, mattresses and household junk, roofing shingles and underlayment, construction and demolition debris, small non-hazardous appliances, cardboard, yard waste and branches as their own load, and concrete, dirt, brick and asphalt within the weight limits of a smaller box. Out of our boxes: paints and solvents, oils and fuels, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, gas cylinders, propane tanks, flammable materials, asbestos, and appliances with refrigerant unless properly prepared. Ask first about TVs and computers. The full guide says what to do with each instead.
Distribute the weight evenly, break bulky pieces down, separate heavy materials whenever possible, and keep debris level with or below the top edge so the load can be hauled safely. Keep the path clear for pickup. Need more time? We can often extend the rental for an additional daily or weekly fee, depending on availability, or swap a full box for an empty one. Near homes we plan drop-offs and pickups for the daytime and do not promise night or Sunday service.
To book, call (334) 686-0763 — the phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Have the address, the material and a rough quantity ready, and call earlier in the day for the best chance of same-day delivery. We accept major credit and debit cards, and payment is generally collected when the rental is scheduled, to reserve your delivery date.

No. The City's pickup page lists construction or demolition debris, tires and commercial waste as not accepted, and the City Code makes building material and contractor debris the owner's job. A roll-off is the usual answer for a remodel or a roof.
No. As long as we have clear instructions on where the dumpster should go and the area is free of vehicles and obstacles, you do not need to be there for delivery or pickup. Mark the spot if that helps.
